My thought on music has been influenced by the understanding Mozart had to tell his student. I have phrased that 'the key to learning music, is allowing life's melodies to speak to you'.

Some quotes from the book: Mozart, the man and the artist revealed in his own words. Compiled By Friedrich Kerst, Translated and edited by Henry Krehbiel.
Here, here and here [pointing to his ear, his head and his heart] is your school. If everything is right there, then take your pen and down with it; afterward ask the opinion of a man who knows his business to a musically talented boy who asked Mozart how one might learn to compose (pg. 5).
Melody is the essence of music. I compare a good melodist to a fine racer, counterpointists to hack post-horses; therefore be advised, let well alone and remember the old Italian proverb: -who knows most, knows least (pg.7).

I came across a great quote from the Jewish compser Ervine Nyiregyhazi, found in a letter to his lover;
'I am master of my passions to some extent... and yet I am torn by desires, asperations, conflicts, memories, all playing the melody of life on the strings of my heart' (pg.13)

I am a musician based out of the great state of Oklahoma in the mid-western area of the United States of America. I have had the opportunity to see bands grow such as The All American Rejects (AAR), as well as Other Lives - a band developed from one of the passionate AAR members. These have been two bands who I have learned from, and has allowed me to also see you can do what ever you want to do when it comes to music. I have played in a few bands, and it seems I was always the drummer but the people would always be great musicians who were looking for mainly people to contribute to their recording of their songs and just needed a session musician who could do the job to promote their talent to record companies such as Capitol Records.
My inspiration comes from something within me. Igor Stravinsky said 'I had my ear to help me; I heard and I wrote what I heard. I am the vessel through which Le Sacre passed' - quoted from the book; Hearing and Writing music, by : Ron Gorow - . This is what I have, and have come across a few people who have the same inspiration musically. I am someone who wakes up with melodies, and my mind articulates various ensembles during the day. It seems my only lack rests in being able to write what I hear. What I have posted is my process of learning to understand sound, and learning how to structure my ideas in music. I will eventually have a web site with postings of pieces I wrote for various instruments and different ensembles, as well as piano music I have recently written (the scores will be available).
