Song description

A native of the beautiful island of Barbados, Elan Trotman, has made a
name for himself as one of New England’s up and coming Jazz artist. A
graduate of the Berklee College of Music, with a degree in Music
Education, Elan serves as a Music teacher in the Boston Public
Schools. Although during the day he is found cultivating the minds of
children to love music, at nighttime he is a well-known member of the
Boston, Providence and New England music scene.
Whether playing the sax and singing with the wedding band “Flipside”,
or serenading customers at the local jazz clubs headlining the “Elan
Trotman Band” or discussing different types of Saxophones with former
President Bill Clinton at a charity event, if there are people wanting
to hear good music, Elan is there.
He is also well known for his ability to cross over genres and fuse
his passion for the sax for those who love rock and create a new sound
as noted by his many performances with the Band led by Major League
Pitcher-Bronson Arroyo. Élan’s love for sports and music has also
brought opportunities to play the National Anthem at major sports
venues across the country including the World Champions The Boston Red
Sox and The Boston Celtics.
Elan has also performed, recorded and toured with an elite group of
artists. Among those are Grammy Award winning R&B vocalists-
Roberta Flack and Brian McKnight, Multi Grammy nominated saxophonist
Kirk Whalum and MLB Pitcher-Bronson Arroyo. He has also won
awards for Best New Act (1998)- Barbados Nation Awards and Best Jazz
Artist (2008) New England Urban Music Awards.
Élan’s love affair with music causes him to transcend the expectations
of all those around him. He has recorded three independent albums,
“Memories” (2001), “Let’s Have a Good Old TIme” (2005), and “A Reggae
Christmas” (2007). Many of Élan’s fans have asked for a CD exclusively
made up of his own Smooth Jazz compositions. Now, they can prepare for
his new and unique yet recognizable sound. The new album is set to launch
in the summer of 2009 entitled “ This Time Around” and it is sure to
name him among the best of the new generation in Smooth Jazz sax-men.
