Magnificat is a vocal and instrumental ensemble under the artistic direction of Warren Stewart that specializes in music of the 17th century. Each year we produce a series of concerts on the Peninsula, Berkeley and San Francisco that have ranged from staged operas to reconstructions of historical liturgies. Whatever the nature of the program, Magnificat has has been guided by the spirit of the early baroque in its emphasis on the expression of human emotion and dramatic narrative.
